Shamsia Sandra Sunfire has been living and Dancing in Mid-Wales since 1994.
Her local circle at Derwenlas in Wales has been Dancing Dances of Universal Peace from around 1990 and continues to welcome new Dancers as well as those with more experience and visitors who are in this beautiful part of the world.
Shamsia has been part of the Sacred Arts Camp teaching team as well as part of the team at the Latvian Dancing Heart Camp. She has also been invited to lead in France and Poland. She has completed a training with Neil Douglas Klotz on the Advanced Interspiritual Leadership Training, as she is particularly drawn to his work.
Shamsia finds the process of retreat very valuable and enjoys sharing that process with others. She mentors others in leading Dances of Universal Peace (DUP) and would love to see more people leading and Dancing in the UK and especially in Wales.
Shamsia values all she is learning in the process of supporting others to lead DUP. She offers a group space in which we can share our Dance Leading experiences, questions, reflections and go further together with this potently transformative spiritual practice that is Dances of Universal Peace.
‘The Dances continue to be a central part of my practice, my healing and my journey through life. I love to be part of the very real flourishing sense of community that the Dances bring in such a joyful way.’
She follows the Path of the Heart, the Path of Love. Shamsia is a leader and mentor of Dances of Universal Peace. She loves the retreat process that draws on the rich tapestry of wisdom teachings and practices, the rhythms of nature which empower us to be more of who we truly are. She both leads and attends retreats. Shamsia is a conductor in the Dervish Healing Order and is dedicated to service on the healing path.
Halim is an elder in our community and a most experienced musician of Dances of Universal Peace.
It's a delight to witness him passing on encouragement and skills to other less experienced musicians. Specialising in guitar and drum and being a perpetual student himself, he communicates the uniqueness and subtlety of offering musicianship to support Dancers in opening to Universal Peace.
He has experience of collaborating with musicians en masse at Camps and as well as in smaller groups or playing as the only musician. A World Music student, he explores musical expression as a pathway in the Mysticism of Sound & Music.
He is a treasure in our community, you'll find him where you hear laughter.

See what an atmosphere the harmony of ten people can create; the power of love and the influence created by ten people is much greater than that created by one. Think then what would be the blessing for humanity if nations, races, and communities were united!” - Pir-o-Murshid Inayat Khan
